The source of fibre, Acacia fibre, is derived from Acacia senegal, a thorny tree native to Africa and India. Fibre has numerous beneficial effects on the body. Acacia fibre is a soluble, non-bulking agent which can be fermented by the microflora to acetic, propionic and butyric short-chain fatty acids. These short-chain fatty acids may act as an energy source to the existing microbiotia present in the small intestine.
